 $50,000 Turner Cup

This marks a historic year for the WDSA (Women’s Doubles Squash Association).  We are entering our 4th Professional Doubles Season, which is highlighted by the Turner Cup, a $50,000 tournament in New York City December 10-13, 2010 benefiting both Breast Cancer and The WDSA Fund.

In 2007, The WDSA Tour began promoting women’s doubles squash while linking with local charities to help fund expansion of urban squash programs.  To date we have reached a number of our goals.  Firstly, we have increased the number of professional women’s doubles players, by encouraging former US Collegiate Players, WISPA (Women’s International Squash Players Association) Singles Players and teaching professionals.  We have attracted amateurs to the game through new events like an Under 30 Pro am draw.  We have increased our tour stops which include 6 events throughout the US and Canada, and linked with the following charities – City Squash (NYC), Mile High Squash (Denver, CO), Squash Haven (New Haven, CT), Metro Squash (Chicago, IL), Breast Cancer Alliance (Denver, CO).

To further develop the WDSA tour, we recently partnered with US SQUASH, the USA governing body, to establish the WDSA Fund benefiting urban, junior, collegiate and amateur female squash programs around the country. The Historic Turner Cup will be the first event to benefit the WDSA Fund as well as Breast Cancer.  Due to my mother losing her fight to Breast Cancer at the young age of 47, I have had an extremely strong desire to have a tournament to raise money for Breast Cancer.  My mother taught me how to play squash at age 4 and since then I have reached number 1 on the doubles tour.  Her passion and strength has given me the courage to further grow women’s squash on all levels.

Below is a list of Pro Am Costs and Sponsorship packages.  Please let us know if you wish to particpate or support the event as there is limited spacing available in the pro am draws.  We hope to see you out for the Friday night function or at the matches throughout the weekend.

Sincerely Narelle Krizek and the Turner Cup Committee
